Tim Sarsany (b. 1966)
As an accomplished composer and arranger, Tim Sarsany continues to receive commissions from high school, collegiate, and professional groups nationwide. He focuses mostly on choral works, sacred and secular with varied accompaniments, from a cappella to full orchestral accompaniments. Tim is published with Hal Leonard, Alfred, Hinshaw, Santa Barbara, Roger Dean, Morningstar and ECS Publications.
Living with his husband Philip in Cambridge, Ohio, Dr. Timothy Sarsany is a visiting assistant professor and Director of Choral Activities at Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in conducting from The Ohio State University, as well a Master of Music degree in choral conducting and a Bachelor of Music degree in music theory and composition.
He previously spent 21 years with the Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus, spending 9 years as Artistic Director after serving 12 years as Assistant Director. Under his artistic direction, CGMC received critical acclaim. CGMC’s Home and Country concert was mentioned by the Columbus Dispatch as one of the best concerts of 2012. Dr. Sarsany was also nominated for Best Musical Director in CityScene’s Best in the ’Bus 2015 and 2017, and CGMC under his direction was nominated for Best Concert of 2017 for their "Joy! Make the Yuletide Gay!" concert. His final concert with CGMC in June 2019, "Stonewall 50", was nominated for the "Columbus Makes Art Excellence" Award, sponsored by the Greater Columbus Arts Council.
